Many people have heard of Google Analytics but are unsure of why it is a useful tool for them to use as part of their online business strategy.  As with any type of marketing, testing and measuring your strategies and their results, are highly important to make sure you are managing your online business not only effectively, but profitably too.

Google makes it very easy for you to add tracking code to your website pages, whether you are building your website using Joomla, Wordpress or any other content management system, as well as adding it directly to html website pages. Google Analytics allows you to track where your visitors come from, e.g. via search engines and what keywords they have used to find you, referrals eg, where you have left a link to your website when using social media and internet marketing to promote your website and finally if they type your website address in directly.   This can be very useful in making sure you are not wasting your time and energy on promotional activities that aren't bringing you in extra visitors.

Another great feature is that it shows you which pages on your website are attracting the most visitors and which are not.  This information then allows you to edit the pages that are not performing well and track the amendments to see continual improvement from them.
